I was surfing the web the other night and ran across a new plug-in for Excel 2010 called IronSpread. This plug-in allows you to write scripts in Python that interact with Excel – a replacement for VBA. The website shows some cool examples for use and details how the Python code is leaner than VBA. One example took over 50 lines of code in VBA and 18 in Python.
My VBA skills are kinda rusty and I don’t know how to program in Python (yet!), but I see some very interesting use cases for IronSpread. In a future post, I will review the IronSpread plug-in (after I have had time to learn Python).
